Glugs from the bottle a satisfyingly thick and tar-like pitch. Chocolate, barrelwood and a hint of fruity sourness in the nose I wouldn’t have picked out as blackberry. There’s almost a lemony edge to it. Big, roasty and chocolatey with a distinctly sourish sharpness as it warms. Puckeringly bitter charred malt finish. Proper, grown-up, roastily bitter and full-bodied stout with an intriguingly fruity tang. A pint is plenty, mind.

Sligt smells associated with new leather. The black body and tight head suggest something a little more special, however the slightly bitter and oiliy texture are a little disappointing.

Bottle. Black colour with a big brown head. Roasted, berries, light coffee, dusty aroma and taste. Medium body with a dry finish.

Black pour with walnut-highlights. Even with a gentle pour a huge layer of densely packed beige head that leaves a persistant layer of foam all the way through the glass. A solid roasty aroma, with a nice play of esters, and a restrained touch of berry sweetness. Evokes a vanilla association, though I can’t say I actually smell it there. Fairly dry, strong roast flavors. The brambles are there, but just barely breaking into the threshold of perception, adding a little tartness to the smokey roast in the finish. Dry, a little chalky. It’s a funny style fusion, but I think it works.

Black with a thick head. Very fruity aroma. Sour fruity flavor mixed with bitter roasted malt. Not too impressed with the aftertaste though.
