Jan 22, 2004 The aroma is sweet dominated by brambleberries. The color is black and it has a beutiful light brown head. The flavor is dominated by burnt and brambleberry flavors. It has a very dry end. A very good beer.

Oct 3, 2005 (Bottle 50 cl) Completely pitch black and opaque beer with a creamy, light brown head. Marked aroma of burned malt. Flavour full of the same burned malt - almost coffeeish. Too burned for my palate. I really don’r detect the added brambleberries - only dryness and a pronounced bitter finish from the malts. 011005

Clear dark brown color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, coffee, berry notes, blackberry, wood. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily - smooth, carbonation is soft to flat. (130808)

Aug 31, 2007 Bottled@GBBF2007. Dark ambery brown color, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, parfume, fruity hops and some caramel. Flavour is mildly roasted malts, caramel, some hops and wood. OK, but the flavour was a slight disappointment.

Nov 8, 2003 Beautiful label. Near black colour. Aroma of molasses, slightly curranty notes. The nose hints at the sweetness to come. The body is indeed sweet, slightly earthy, fruity, with a toffeeish note. The fruit blends in well, and overall the character of the beer is very unique. It is more reminiscent of an old-school porter than a stout, given its lack of overt roast and hop.

Jul 2, 2004 Dark color. Very good stout, good mix of dry coffee and malt sweetness; good texture, smooth. Long final. I can’t detect the fruits, but very good anyway! Excellent stout.
