Comments: Fun, dark, roasty ale with well-extracted malts. Another very good dark one from Burton Bridge.

Butter caramel notes, some chocolate, esters, can really taste the damsons. Sweet and plummy, leading to a dry finish. hughie (3084), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England

Pleasing taste of malt, dark fruit and liquorice. Quite hoppy. Immensely drinkable, fresh tasting porter. MesandSim (5955), London, Greater London, England

Would be nice if it was a bit stonger smelling. Very very slight coffee flavour, but mostly tastes more like an amber. Strong plum in the flavour with a gorgeous sweet finish. Colour is a glorious red and black. Magicdave6 (5558), London, Greater London, England

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Dec 16, 2006 Cask (gravity dispense) at London Drinker Beer Festival, March 2006. A dark reddish brown beer. No head. Quite dry and distinctly sharp. Fairly light mouthfeel. Subtle chocolate notes and hints of liquorice, but not much roast malt. Not much damson in evidence either. More like berry fruit really. There’s a sort of bitter, tannic feel that I guess might come from the damsons but I couldn’t be sure.
