Apr 14, 2006 Cask@London Drinker. Some sweaty socks in the aroma, light fishy notes in the aroma aswell. Like the Slaughter Porter, this didn’t taste as dark as it looked. tasted like a bitter, and i couldn’t pick up much damson either. Dissapointing.

Mid brown red coloured with a medium white head. Some fruit flavour. Dry and bitter on the palate with a lasting malt finish.

Jan 12, 2006 Light for a porter, but with a delicious hint of damsel plums in it.Pitch black, but hold it up to the light and you get the dark blue damsel colour shining through.

Nov 20, 2005 Cask handpump at the Swan in the Rushes, Loughborough. Dark ruby coloured with a slim creamy white head. A bit of fruit in the aroma. Some dark fruit, coffee and dark malts in the taste. Pretty good, but spoilt by a watery mouthfeel.

Sep 3, 2005 Gravity cask Maidstone BF. Very dark ruby. Tan bubbly head, not overly fruity nose bit tarry, but ok in mouth. Nice understated fruit with drying finish. Some coffee, damsons kick in later on. Touch of vanilla not overly sweet

Feb 13, 2005 Standard looking black beer with a light aroma with a slight hint of damson. The flavour is again damson as expected with a bitter finish. Overall a fairly standard beer.

Jan 30, 2005 Cask Conditioned at The Wharf House, Oxford. Murky dark beer with red hue, no head, end of barrell. Malty, slightly sou and fruity porter, struggling for condition. Thin on the tongue, finishes with boiled pear drop. Interesting.
