taste is of hops and herbs almost medical with the alcohol,it reminded me of going to the doctors as a child.
Another strange Burton experience. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 16, 2005 500 ml bottle. Cloudy/opaque apricot with distinct swirls of yeast, medium head...hugely orangey nose (both bitter peel and sweet juice), yeasty barnyardy qualities and wafts of caramel, vanilla and oregano, wonderfully complex, even thrilling...very bitter front in the flavor, citrusy spicy and woody, juicy at first changing to dry, acidic and dusty at the finish, very full-bodied but quite quaffable with dried pine-needle quality that lasts endlessly after you sadly drain the glass...marvellous. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 1, 2005 Golden/copper color with a big fluffy head. Bubblegum nose with a little hops detectable. Flavor is almost all hops and just a little malt/strange yeast flavor to it. Well done but thought it was more like a cross between a Belgian/IPA. 11026 (1779), Alabama, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 27, 2005 Bottle. Served probably a little warmer than desired. Hazy yellow/amber colored. Nice fluffy white head. Bubble gum and floral hop aroma. Very well balanced. Truly the hoppiest beer I have had from England. More like an IPA than an English Strong. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 7, 2005 (Rating #700!) Now this is a brew worth getting shipped to India for! (Michael Jackson, Burton Bridge, & others refer to it as an IPA.) From the bottle, this poured a hazy tangerine color with a frothy off-white head that decorated my moustach the entire drink. This has some excellent orange peel and lemon hop aromas to it that come through strongly in the taste as well. There’s a serious caramel malt flavor giving this a solid backbone for its spiciness. Very creamy mouthfeel, very satisfying taste, all capped off with a refreshing hop bitterness and alcohol in the finish. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 2, 2005 Bottle at the Ship. Cloudy light orange, with no head to speak of. Thought that I had an off bottle at first, getting Belgian notes from this one. Styrian Golding hops in the aroma? Hoppy malty flavor that is a little Belgian Saison-like. If this had been labled Fantome, I may have scored it higher.
