Malty aroma of chocolate-sauce and crackers with notes of red berries. Full and very well-balnced flavour of the firm chocolately and vanilla-like sweetness and the dryish hoppy and earthy flavours of nuts, grass, orange-peels and dark chocolate. Firm medium mouthfeel. Finishes with a long, grassy and earthy bitterness with a nutty and an orangey undertone. Lovely. DJMonarch (6909), Northwich, Cheshire, England

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 10, 2007 Poured a very murky reddish-brown from a firkin at the Happy Gnome. Strong ripe fruit, banana, and toffe are accented by a slight smokiness on the nose. The flavor is lighter than the nose and has some nice butterscotch and prune. There is a slight hop bite, but not very noticeable. The flavor is slightly watery and kind of a letdown from the nose. downender (2632), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England

Bronze coloured with slight, yet long-lasting head. Aroma was of butterscotch with some grassy hops. A wide array of flavours including toffee, almonds and dried fruit. Finish was long and pleasantly bitter. Excellent. leaparsons (4748), Leicester, Leicestershire, England
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 22, 2004 Amber in colour. This has a good caramel and spices aroma. Flavours are initially juicy and sweet malts then dry with burnt toffee notes. Has a fantastic finish that lasts for some time. Svesse (2683), Hässelby, Sweden

Extremely yeasty ale offering full on lightly sour flavours dominated by a strong stoney, dry, sandy bitterness. The finish is brutal, even showing some alcohol notes, but the aroma is pleasant, almost funky, estery. Really full-bodied. Original and impressive, but perhaps unpolished and certainly not very balanced. Still, I dig Burton Birdge’s yeast character.
