Maltybones (51), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada Oct 28, 2007 500ml bottle. Nice chocolate coloured pour with very little head. Aroma is a little fruity.....plumb or date-like. Similar flavours are present with very subtle coffee notes and a strong sour finish. Drinks silky smooth on the palate. Unusual for a porter but a little underrated. .
PaulHegedus (177), Brampton, Ontario, Canada Nov 30, 2008 Bottle served cellar temp. Pours dark amber brown with a large, lasting head. Yeasty aroma with some nuttiness and a distant bit of grape. I taste a whole lot of sourness in the initial hit of flavour with some grape and then water in the finish. There is not a lot of "porter" in this, to be honest. The sourness is not unpleasant, more like a very plain sour ale. wyzzywyz22 (453), Wirral, Merseyside, England Nov 27, 2008 Bottle, Barleycorns, Nantwich. Bit disappointed by this. Very dark brown colour, large dissipating tan head. Looked the part. Not much happened in the nose, some vague roasted malt. Body was thin. Muted roasted malt and coffee in the flavour. Ho hum. mullet2007 (158), Newfoundland, Canada Nov 20, 2008 Pours a faintly hazy deep brown to slightly burgundy colour with a thick, long-lasting tan head. Nose is faint, very slightly hoppy with just a hint of sweet roasty malt. Flavour isn’t quite very porter-like. It’s a little bit too watery, and slightly overbalanced towards the hoppy side of things. Not enough malts in the mouth, what is there is good, roasty and nice. Mouthfeel is smooth, but a little watery. terrybail (185), , Ontario, Canada Nov 1, 2008 500ml bottle from the LCBO
A light aroma of chocolate
Pours a dark brown wit almost no head
slight taste of chocolate pretty watery for a porter
Not the best porter i have had for sure
presario (2501), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Oct 31, 2008 Bottle. BB4 Jan 08. The biggest head I have seen on a Porter. LIght spiciness and a hiint at some roastiness. A bit sour which increases. Almost a Bourbon Barrel quality. A little thin and needs more roastiness.
