imdownthepub (4045), Banbury, Oxfordshire, Oxfordshire, England Aug 16, 2007 Bottled, 330ml, aged 5.5yrs. Orange gold with short white head. Full and smooth beer, nicely aged but suffering, again, from the spicing up of belgian beers, so i got the usual suspects, including the dreaded clove and corriander notes. The beer was fine in its own right, there was a rounded hop and sweet, malty, bright, but the overbearing spice brings it down. Dickinsonbeer (2514), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Jan 16, 2007 33 cl bottle with the blue clovis label, bought from a store notorious for selling really old stale beers- and this was no exception. Pours a diry cloudy yeasty brown with a fluffy lingering tan head. Artoma was still pretty good and reminded me a bit of a nice belgian strong or barleywine, with lots of sweet malts and oxidized soy which was nice. Flavor was pretty gross though, tart, a bit sour, astringent as all hell- definitely autolyzed with rubber and drity yeasty notes- blech. Drain pour for sure. Must try a new bush 7% if I get the chance. bu11zeye (3656), Frisco, Texas, USA Aug 3, 2006 (Bottle) Pours a murky golden orange body with a small off-white head. Aroma of citrus, bread, spicy fruit cake, apple, and perfume. Flavor of apple, malt, earthiness, honey, florals, and light lemon. Quite different, interesting...
