Off-white small head on a darkish red to brown body. Smells malty and spicy. Tones of red fruits, plums and figs. Bitterness, if any, is overwhelmed by these tastes. Alcohol is over the top. Would have preferred more citric hops and less alcohol. A once in a winter beer, utmost.

Dec 7, 2009 Draught at White Horse, London. Deep brown pour with a decent head on top. Nice malty, sweet, fruity, honey aroma. Tastes sweet, dark fruit, malty, festive spices, honey. Incredibly warming and comforting Belgian Christmas ale. Much better on tap than from the bottle IMO.

Dec 3, 2009 Draft. Pours slightly hazy amber with absolutely no head. Aroma is a bit faint, but once it settles in, hints of scotch, brandy, rasins, caramel, vanilla, and toffee arise; especially after a vigorous shake of the glass. Fuller bodied, with a complex, sugary mouthfeel. Smooth, clean finish. Very good seasonal quad.

Dec 3, 2009 Sharp, bitter aroma with apple smell and a slight alcohol smell as well. Nice orange color with a very thin head that disappears quickly. Warming and full-bodied mouthfeel. Nice fruitiness with warming alcohol kick. Dark fruit taste comes about 15 seconds after the swallow. Nice.

Dec 1, 2009 Pours a translucent red brown color. Has a mild tan head that goes away fast. Smells and tastes of booze, sour grapes and licorice. The taste has a nice deep body. I thought it tasted more like a strong port w/sugar near the end of my glass (as the beer warmed). Nice beer but the balance could be better.

Nov 29, 2009 Pours a ruby-brown color with a thin white head that fades but remains somewhat present until the glass is empty. Fruity bouquet nose with alcohol. Aroma of carmelized sugar and molases. Taste is boozey and the bottle could probably use some rest. Sweet malt and the hops are hidden the background but give good balance. Good palate and overall a nice amber seasonal.

Nov 29, 2009 Brilliantly well balanced, complex palate of many different flavours rolled into one merry flavour. Substantially sweet and delicious. The palate is so intricate. Yum. Sweet without being overly so. Bready feel. Caramelly. Great beer!

Nov 29, 2009 Botttle. Pours an ugly murky brown that lightens at the top of the beer. Almost no head, what there is is a whispy off-white that clings to the edge of the glass. Strong aroma if sweet malt with a spicy, peppery kick, citrus, juniper. Very rich, alcohol strong flavor

Nov 21, 2009 Very sweet, sugary, and heavy on the palate. Nice warming alcohol and a touch of hops. Good winter beer.
