Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured cloudy copper color with a large frothy off-white head. Medium sweet citrus, yeast, woody aroma with a small alcohol tone. Medium to full body with a sticky texture. Medium to heavy woody malty flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish and small alcohol bite. This is a standout beer.

(Bottle) Pours hazy orangey amber with a medium off-white head. The aroma is sweet, malty, fruity, light yeasty and light hoppy with tones of mint fudge, caramel, candy sugar/burned sugar, syrup, cotton candy, mild marzipan, apples, sweet pears, canned peaches, cherries, dry oak wood, vanilla/buttery cognac, sweet oily perfume, grass, subtle spices, acetone and a touch of dried fruits. The alcohol alongside some spicy and syrupy tones makes the otherwise round nose a bit sharp. Unlike many other barrel-aged beers, the oak really has a mission to complete in this one. The flavour begins medium malty and sugary, followed by a light to medium hoppy and oaky middle that ends with a dry, spicy and light grassy sting. The undertones bring notes of alcohol, sugar, dust, wood, fruity orange peel and apples. The mouthfeel is full, soft, creamy and round but the sharp alcohol notes distract the palate from being truly delightful. Medium but soft carbonated. The aftertaste is sugary yet dusty and dry with hints of woodwork. Medium to full bodied. This is a good beer, but not one of my favorite styles.

Bottle shared by Crosling. Poured a syrupy golden-copper color with a moderate white head that faded to a layer. Sweet, lightly spicy malt aroma with some light tart notes and a hint of hops. Lightly tart entry with some moderate malt sweetness, including some light caramel and some spiciness. Moderate yeasty presence on the finish with some hops peaking through and undertones of soft citrus fruit. Soft carbonation with a moderate bite. Perhaps it was a bad bottle, because I wasn’t as enamored by this beer as many others seem to be.

A hazy golden ale with a thick collapsing off white head. A pleasant caramel aroma and candy sugar, herbal, coriander, grassy and wild vegetation and alcohol, In mouth, an intense sild carbonated beer, with coriander, wild herbs, light acidity and barn. A wild and wonderful beer. Rich and complex. A nice way to finish a tasting. Old Stock VI evening, March 23 2007.

Had this for the first time at Beer Passion weekend in Antwerp. What can I say, I like most of the Dubuisson beers but this one is incredible. Almost like sipping a fine scotch. The alcohol is not as intense as you would think. I definatley plan to get more of this before leaving Europe. Re-rate September 08’ - Just as good as I remember. I have to give this a boost because it looks so good in the glass and is so smooth and creamy. Top notch.

bottle thanks to jrob_21. Pours a light brown/amber with a nice off-white head. Nose of yeast, malt and spices. Taste of yeast, fruit and spice. Mouthfeel was medium and very carbonated with alcohol warmth. Not a fan, especially for what it cost me.
