Bourbon malt body with hints of nuts, raisins, wood and beautiful a spicy end - like a fine cognac. Whiskey-like too. Extreme high alcohol. All blended together for a perfect balance and a glass-like, silky texture. Pretty amazing stuff. Caskalefan (44), Bellingham, Washington, USA

Nose, and taste of peaches, persimmons, pepper, coriander, vanilla, oak, and subtle bourbon. Most of all, the flavor reminds me of Krug Clos du Mesnil 1983, which was one of the finest vintage champagnes ever. This, despite the fact that this beautiful ale was not afforded the Methode Champenoise that Deus, or Malheur Brut underwent. The body is silky, and relatively sprightly for its weight, and the alcohol is elegantly restrained, and serves as a catalyst to heighten the flavor nuances.
This is a true masterpiece of the brewer’s art, and is well worth every penny of the $40+ dollars a bottle that it retails for. softcough (1), USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Nov 17, 2007 The unique aromas and flavors of this beer are so complex that it is overwhelming to attempt a verbal description. This was a very special experience that every beer drinker should be so lucky to have. It if weren’t prohibitively expensive it would probably be the most talked about beer in the world. rcarleyjr (1), USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Nov 17, 2007 This is the first beer I’ve ever had that made me want to write a review. It is, in a word, amazing. There is such a depth of complexity imparted by the oak aging that builds on an already extraordinary beer. Vanilla, spices, rich fruit. Just about every good thing I could think of is going on in this beer. I wish I could find another to spend $50 on all over again. techcommdood (2), , New York, USA does not count | 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Jul 14, 2008 Absolutely stellar. The other ratings have done this fine beer justice in their descriptions, so a big "ditto" here from me. OKBeer (1159), Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

Golden orange colour with a fully lasting creamy and fruity off-white head. Raisin, raspberry, orange, light perfume, red wine aromas. Flavours of orange, raisin, caramel, port, chocolate, very light alcohol - very complex but incredibly well blended. Full bodied, smooth and lightly warming. Highlight of the night for me. The foam then lasted in the glass for a good 10 minutes before it died enough to let me at the beer without getting foam nose. Anyway, it was worth the wait. Caramel, oak, vanilla nose. Flavor was spectacular. Well balanced sweet sugar and maltiness, with notes of honey, caramel, light raisin, oak and vanilla. Tart and spicy at first with a velvety silkiness at the end. Unbelievably easy to drink. One of my new favorites.
