Commercial Description:
A crisp refreshing version of a German hefeweizen. This beer reflects the west coast interpretation of this age old style. A little less wheat and a little extra hop character than the average wheat beer. Unfiltered, yet remarkably bright (clear) due to extra care during fermentation.

From a 12 oz. long neck brown bottle with a blurb along the left side of the label, no bottled/freshness date. Made a average appearance, poured like you would any hefe weizen, hazy orange hued yellow with a foamy white head that quickly settled into a thin lacing, medium carbonation overall. Had a nose of sweet fruity wheat malts, apples and grassy hops. A crisp and smooth lightish medium bodied mouthfeel, average drinkability. Sweet fruity wheat malt taste that is kind of bland, apples with a squirt of lemon, dry peppery, grassy hoppiness and a sweet malty and grassy finish. I wasn’t too impressed by this hefe weizen from Butte Creek, not something I will be a regular buyer of.

(12oz bottle) Cloudy golden with quickly diminishing white head. Aroma is medium sweet, lemon, banana. Taste is medium sweet, herbal, light banana, lemon -- moderately hoppy. Crisp light body with some acidity. Seems like a good fit for a hot summer day.

Poured a murky amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma of bananas and tangerines with a light yeasty splice. Sweet malt flavor with banana going from the middle to the finish. Bitter dry finish.

Another in a series of mediocre to inferior beers sampled at a recent beer festival. Hazy orange with a moderate frothy white head, the aroma was sweet and fruity, wheat grain, hops. Unremarkable flavor of wheat and sweet fruit. Light bodied. Very mediocre.

Bottle. Pours crystal clear (!) honey gold with very small head. The aroma is apple and grain. The flavor also has an apple peel quality, with some hop bitterness over it. Some chunky malt comes at the finish. Not awful, but not really what I expected.

Jax Package Store - Sandy Springs (Atlanta) Ga, 12 oz bottle. Pours a murky, medium golden with a thick bubbly white head. Odd aroma, not unpleasant, brief band-aids, some nectarine fruitiness. Crisp flavor with some faint estery notes, brief bitter hopiness and so\me doughy maltiness. Runs the gamut, but does not excel lin any. Thick enough mouthfeel. Not a bad American wheat, not one of my more sought out styles.

Pours hazy light golden with a wispy white head that leaves impressive lacing. Some kind of suspended particles floating around, protein, yeast I don’t really know. Aroma of mild wheat with a little citrus. Taste is mild, every so slightly hoppy. Feels thicker than most american wheats, nice mouthfeel. Still not impressed.

(12 oz bottle: A & J Liquor in Covina, CA) This beer clearly sat on the shelf at this liquor store far too long as it tastes and smells kind of caramely, fruity, sweet and a bit stale, and nothing at all like a wheat beer, no wheat flavor, and hardly any hops either. Light-to-medium bodied, but I think the age has taken off whatever crispness there might have been. Medium golden color, somewhat hazy. The off-white head overflowed my pint glass, but I wasn’t especially careful with my pouring. At the end of the session, there’s still a complete layer of head atop the beer. No lacing though. If I ever see this again (at a quality beer store), I may try this again, but it’s probably not worth putting in the effort to actively seek it out.
