You’d think brewers who made beer for a living would realize that for certain styles, the correct strain of yeast worked at the correct temperature range is essential. California ale yeast will not make a hefeweizen no matter how hard you try. The yeast byproducts are just too much a part of the style. Hazy gold with a small head. Slightly hoppy with grass and berries. (I actually like the hops they use in their beers). Ok wheat malt body. Bit of bitterness. Kind of just sits there and does nothing. celogan (190), Oroville, California, USA

This is touted as being a Hefeweizen, well there are no notes at all of cloves, spices, or anything. Just a bland brew. No head to speak of, not much lacing. Pouring the expected cloudy yellow, but very dissappoining. Not as good as Sierra Nevada’s counterpart. BeerandBlues2 (3231), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

Hazy, yellow-orange hue to this brew. Nice flavor, although slightly watery and a soft carbonation. Not a bad interpretation of a German Hefe-Weizen. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 6, 2003 A chill hazed yellow orange color on the pour, the head is average in size, frothy and a bright white in color, lace forms a fine sheet upon the glass. Sweet, almost apple like in aroma, light hints of wheat, fresh, crisp and clean to the senses, with the start sweet, top is light in feel. Finish is mild in acidity, the hops pleasant, dry and lingering aftertaste, drinkable, but nothing to call home about, actually rather average. Suttree (2743), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 30, 2003 Cloudy yellow and white head - typical wheat appearance. as the description says, a little more hops and a little less wheat - so much so that to me, there is not enough wheat character. taste almost like a typical run of the milll pale ale. Medium hopping, dry, medium acidity. Dry, bitter medium finish. Servicable, but uninspiring. I sampled this following Widmer's wheat, and I think I liked the Widmer's better. Aroma is a mixture of fruit, hops, and bread. Flavor is quite sharp and dry with a nice hop bite. There is some wheat taste showing but its pretty tame. Slightly sour aftertaste. Im not a fan of wheat beers but this one is a little more my speed. GreatStelle (360), Chico, California, USA
