Savannah, Ga. - Habersham Beverage Warehouse - 22 oz bomber. Hazy, urine specimen pour with a thin, quickly fading head. Barely there aroma of spice and hard water. Hint of spice, some watered down citrus - some lemon perhaps. Some day old bubble gum is found in the back end along with some metallic notes. Mouthfeel is decently thick. Wheat ales are quickly becoming one of my least favorite styles and this one is helping leading the cause.

22oz bottle. a bit of haze, in a bright yellow topped with white foam. Big carbonation. Aroma of malted wheat is filling up the room. Hint of lemon zest and a lot of mustiness. Some tree fruits floating around in the nose along with some bread. Flavors of lemon and biscuits. Continues with straw and dust, some spice and a very distant light banana. Overall, very earthy. Finishes very dry. A basic wheat ale. Very organic.

13-Aug-08 (22-oz bottle: Purchased 12-May-08 for $2.29 at Hi-Time Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA) Despite a slow and careful pour, this hyper-carbonated wheat beer pours half a glass of bright white foam that slowly subsides to a canyon valley landscape. The beer itself is the color of lemon juice and fairly hazy, but a plethora of swiftly rising carbonation bubbles is visible and will keep the head lofty for some time. Aromatically, the beer is very dusty and cobwebby and even a little musty; my subconscious makes me feel like I need to sneeze. Also, lots of bready yeast, raw dough, cloves, apples, and a hint of banana. On the palate, this lightly tart beer is very yeasty and very doughy, loaded with apple and clove flavors, and far in the background, there’s a hint of banana esters. The beer is highly carbonated and expansive in the mouth, as the pour suggested it might, and it’s fairly heavy with a lingering, almost chewy finish, so this isn’t very refreshing on the palate. After several sips, the mouth is already feeling stale. Overall, this is not the best Butte Creek has to offer. Too doughy, too heavy, too much apple, it smells dirty, and it’s overcarbonated. There are enough issues that the beer should be reworked from the ground up.

Bottle. Light yellow color with a minimal hazy. Bubbles up quickly and the head disappears just as fast. Mild sour yeast nose. Tastes of citrus, mostly lemon with a bit of dough. Clean mouthfeel and aftertaste. There’s not a lot to this beer, but on a hot day or as a session beer, it’d work. For the price, I’m ok with it.

Not the best offering from Butte Creek. Very Dissappointing. Pourd the expected Cloudy light yellow. It had some decent head that evaporated sooner than expected. Lacing was good and carbonation was acceptable. Aroma rather yeasty. Light palate/mouthfeel; almost watery. tast sour and yeasty with subtle hints of clove and banana. This is drinkable, but not a go out and get tomorrow brew. If you’re a true Hef fan, you’ll most likely be dissappointed. I won’t be getting this one again soon.

Bottle from Ray’s Liquor in Chico. Aroma is light banana, light spice, light noble hop, light pale malt. Slightly hazy light gold color with a white head that didn’t wholly arrive. Thinnish in body with fizzy carbonation. Flavor is banana, wheat, followed by lemon notes that just come out of nowhere. The finish is dry, slightly citric, with some wheatishness. Crisp and refreshing.
