leems (147), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 5, 2009 22oz bomber shared with Beardface. Straw color with minimal head. Very odd aroma with some generic hop. Flavor just sucked, no other way to describe it really. I wonder what the brewer was thinking with this one. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Jun 24, 2009 22 oz bomber thanks to Leems. Pours out a very light yellow with a thin patch of head. Aroma was very floral with a light bit of cardboard mustiness. Flavor was all bitter but not the good bitterness of a hop bomb, just a sloppy mess. Way out of balance but without the solid flavors to make it still drinkable. darn1207 (529), Tallahassee, Florida, USA May 30, 2009 bomber. dark gold pour with medium white head that disappears pretty quickly. aroma of perfume, flowers ad honey. tastes are toasty caramel malts and an earthy hop bitterness. well balanced and drinkable - just not a lot going on. Hopeye (39), Oregon, USA Apr 26, 2009 Not what I’d expect out of a fresh hopped IPA. Nice color, but aroma was lacking and flavor was more malt than hop. Liked the grainy finish, though uncharacteristic of IPA. Maybe a Wildfire IPA is something new, and if so, it needs a bit of work. Nik925 (300), California, USA Mar 11, 2009 Chill haze. Nice creamy head that goes quick. Aggressive bitterness that leads to a gnarly aftertaste. Great lacing bring the appearance back up a bit. Clean and solid. spikester (602), Salem, Oregon, USA Feb 4, 2009 From a bomber. Pours clear full amber with a two finger off white head and fair amount of lacings. Aroma is bready with some floral hops. Taste is slightly sweet caramel that is quickly pushed aside by hop bitterness. Resiney grapefruit hops with a kiss of smoke. Malts are full enough to suggest a pumped up amber but the hop levels are IPA. The carbonation is just barely adequete and the finish is plenty bitter and dry. Overall an enjoyable and interesting beer. The only less that great quality was the aroma was just average for the style.
PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jan 16, 2009 Tallahassee, Fl. - Market Square Liquors - 22 oz bomber. Pours a sparkling medium copper with a light but sticky white head that leaves a thin coat of lacing. Aroma has some floral notes, a hint of spruce and some peanuts. Flavor has some tart citrusy notes, gumball candy sweetness and a hint of maple syrup. Mouthfeel has good thickness to it - but aftertaste is a tad too strong. Other than that a pretty solid effort from Butte Creek. Aurelius (2643), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jan 16, 2009 Decent nutty, chalky, dry caramel malt aroma. Kind of a cool label, but it’s not bright enough to see. Mostly clear, ruddy medium brown wth lacy head. Someplace between a brown ale and a PA. Sawdust and marjoram on the front end, followed by a citrus peel bitterness. Not sweet. Toasted malt and bitter hop finish. Interesting, pretty solid. Market Square Liquors.
