clear dark amber, headless, sweet aged malt aroma, thick body, sweet dark caramel malt flavor, light bitterness provides nice balance, good but nothing special, once warm it picks up some really nice ripe fruit character,

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 11, 2007 Clear copper orange with ruby hues and a thin ring of wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of slightly toasty sweet caramel malts with some mild earthy grapefruity hops. Body is pretty thick and sweet with good light fruity notes and caramel maltiness. Finishes fairly sweet and slightly warming with some bittersweet flavor hops. A decent strong ale. Cornfield (4966), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 31, 2006 This pours a thick, dark copper brown body with an initially frothy head that vanishes pretty rapidly, strangely leaving some nice lacing in its wake. The aroma is very sweet, caramel and toffee topped with musty pine scents. The sweetness of the flavor is cut somewhat by the addition of old nuts and a resinous bitterness. Finishing on a sticky sweet note with a piney feeling on the tongue, this one’s just a bit too far on the sweet side for me.

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 17, 2007 Strong aroma of roasted caramel, almost some chocolate. Not much hop, if any. Hazy amber color with no worthwhile head (bubbles). Thin to medium body with very mild carbonation. Starts with dark fruit and roasted caramel. Something reminiscent of dates. Pretty smooth. With some passage of time mild bitterness begins to show up and build up. It’s a malty thing, and the finish seems weak in hop. Still, it’s tasty, and something rare. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 21, 2007 Dense, murky brown, with no head. Surprising aroma - piney hops, then an intense sweet note. Flavor is brown sugar and toffee, with a surprisingly clean finish. The Bride descriped as tasting like pecan pie with out pecans, and I think that’s about right. As it warms, though, a fruity, cherry note emerges.
