| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 20, 2007 Big caramel accented malt aroma with lighter hop tones that lean towards citrus. The body is a cloudy amber/orange and holds a diminishing, thumb thick, white head. Fairly hoppy fore has a lot of pine, medicinal and herbal bitterness. I was expecting a lot more malt flavor based on the aroma, but it is oddly subdued though still very caramel accented. The alcohol is fairly biting and you taste all 7.1% of it. I confess to thinking that the low score might be because it wasn’t hop forward enough (which I think was the case with the Revolution X from Butte Creek) but this is pretty hop forward it’s just that it is a pretty average beer overall. A little thin and the only massive flavor concentrations are hops followed by alcohol. Very herbal/,edicinal int he finish with mild black pepper notes. SuzyGreenberg (1411), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 15, 2007 22 oz. bottle - pours clear gold with faoming white head; thick aroma mix of hops and malts; flavor falls flat again - not sure what is with these organic brews i’ve tried, but the flavors don’t come out strong; guess we need the pesticides...haha vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 15, 2007 12 oz bottle. Pours clear copper with a soapy tannish head. The aroma has caramel and butterscotch, some toast to the malt and only the faintest hint of piny hops. Medium body with a bigger mouthfeel that normal for an IPA and mouthfilling crisp carbonation. The flavor starts with grainy caramel malt, harsh earthy hops and a sour bitterness. The finish is quite bitter and astringent with some tobacco. The bitterness in the beer doesn’t seem to come from the hops, but I’m not sure where it coming from. A fair beer. BREWMUSKCLES (1092), New Jersey, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 15, 2007 purchasing a 12 oz bottle on my way home from andy’s pub nj. i found this beer to be quite nicely infused with my favorite piney hop notes. i then lost track of it until i recently bought another like it at the organic farmstore on 9th ave midtown manhattan. i found it well hopped, pleasantly malted and refreshing, wiith an interesting carbonation and mothfeel. tartly strong, a touch of fruitiness and then... not so strong. moderately impressed (since this is an organic brew) i am pleased to review this barky malt offering positively as a better than average ipa. until we meet again! yayforbeer (648), Orange Park, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 12, 2007 12 oz bottle. Floral hop aroma. Flavor is sweet malt at the start but quickly overwhelmed by the hops, ending with a bitter finish. Seems to be a decent IPA, using a variety of hops that I can’t identify. Peppery, and then bitter with a long finish. Has a heavy taste to it. An interesting variation for the style, but not one I would consider in the top of the style. Not bad, especially for an organic. I’m not into organic, but if you are, this one is ok. bhensonb (4392), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | May 26, 2007 Light floral hop aroma. Nice copper color with an off-white head that sort of sticks around and shows shreds of lace. Body a bit thin. Different spicy hop, followed by malt, but the malt is not there that long in flavor. There’s a thickening that could be sugars, but the semi-spice/semi-bitter hop dominates, even through the finish. Pretty interesting flavor. Angeloregon (2036), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 9, 2007 Earthy dirty nose from a mediocre (for a PNW IPA) flavor. Hop combination was a tad odd. This beer seems to be inconsistent. Sometimes it totally hit the spot. Others it is a little dull. Always finishes bitter with a mild alcohol burn.
