| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 27, 2006 At Hops in Humboldt Micro-Brew Festival in 4 oz glass. Poured red/orange with a fizzy white head and moderate lacing. Nose was orange/lemon with pine. Mouthfeel was rich. Flavor was hops, and bitter ones at that. I love IPA and this one is a good one but almost comes on too strong. Now keep in mind I was 15 brews in by the time I got to this one and my taste buds were in remission, but overall I would call this a really good IPA. trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 22, 2006 Not bad. Kind of rough IPA, feels as though it is missing something. Orange pour with a bunch of malt to accompany the hops in the aroma. Taste is nicely bitter and heavy in the resin. The malt kicks in on the back, but there is no smooth transition to speak of. Not nearly as good as their IIPA, but good nonetheless. Bartzilla (445), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 13, 2006 Thicker than I would have expected. Tasty, yet pretty malty. I set the bar high on IPA’s and, while this came close to a winner, I’m still smitten by their XIPA, which is just marvelous. argo0 (6982), Washington DC, USA

Aroma is floral, orabge, some caramel, cereal, berry. Taste is medium sweet, orange/floral, some caramel, light grapefruit. Moderate bitterness. Light dryness. Medium body with some resin. jrob21 (1275), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jul 14, 2006 On tap at mellow mush. Very big bitter hops. Big pine, grass, and citrus aromas and tastes. Not a subtle beer and not much else other than the hops to experience. Looks good with a nice clear amber hue. IMtheOptimator (1161), Bethel, Connecticut, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 3, 2006 Poured a clear dark copper with a large fizzy white head. Aroma of lemon, orange, pine needles, toffee, some butterscotch. Flavor is sweet orange juice, lemon, piney and grassy hops, some sticky toffee. Very dry piney-bitter finish. This tastes like the bastard half-breed unbalanced child of an IPA and a IIPA. A bit too heavy in the malt character, with not enough delicate hop excuisiteness. Just big dry bitterness. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jun 25, 2006 Sampled at Old Dominion Brewfest ’06. Clear amber with an off-white head. Floral, somewhat piney aroma. Pretty much bitter and metallic; not delicious. Has notes of grapefruit, some pine and a little toffee in the background. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Not awful but there are much better IPAs out there.
