| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 13, 2007 Bottle. Poured an almost black dark brown color. Moderate espresso and roasty malt aromas, a bit of hops in the mix. A lot of roasty chocolate flavor on the front, bitter roast in the middle and a decent hop tingle on the finish. The roastiness bordered on being caustic, however and was a bit unpleasant at times. Angeloregon (2025), Portland, Oregon, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 12, 2007 On tap at Pirate’s Tavern--Poured a deep abyssmal black-brown body. Small wispy off-white head. Crisp hops nose coupled with essence of robust chocolaty malts. Chewy, full bodied mouth feel. Sharp piny hops that finished with chocolate maltiness. Delectable! | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Nov 10, 2007 Pours a dark black with a small head. Not much taste as most porters. Although you could taste the chocolate finish. Just another average porter. timfoolery (484), California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 8, 2007 A typical, good porter that was too bitter to qualify as smooth in any way, although it did get better as it warmed. Taste was lacking, as it shot directly from bitter to bland. Still, it was a hearty porter, and I like them the best. Black Boss and Okacim are superior. Beerlando (2338), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 24, 2007 My bottle sported a different label and claimed 5.9% ABV. Pours a deep, dark mahogany body that borders on opaque black. Faint traces of crimson show when held to a light source. The small, creamy, light tan colored head recedes quickly to a wispy film. Skinny snakes of lace decorate the glass. The aroma shows roasty coffee beans and sharp baker’s chocolate, in addition to some toasted cereal grains and mildly resinous hops. The flavor follows suit. Very roasty, with freshly crushed coffee beans and bitter chocolate dominating. Darkly toasted grains add a drying sensation, while faint traces of caramel add just a hint of sweetness. Moderate, resinous hops provide a slightly bitter kick on the back end. Medium bodied, and very smooth. Overall, a very roasty, well balanced slow sipper. I’d be happy to spend some time with this one on my back porch on a cold night. Underrated. BigMilly8 (376), Holiday, Florida, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 4, 2007 From bottle : Pours a very dark brown with a small offwhite head that dies but leaves nice lacing. Not much on aroma, i can hardly get anything, maybe a little chocolate? Taste is very porter-ey, roasted malts with chocolate and coffee. Medium body, a little thin for a good porter, not hops present at all. Very drinkable, but not memoriable. Palidor19 (1780), Brandon, Florida, USA
