Commercial Description:
This true-to-style porter has a full bodied malty flavor balanced with a crisp hop bitterness - giving it a smoothness and drinkability you're sure to enjoy.

This porter was really not impressive. It was rather weak in the aroma, taste and mouthfeel. Not a bad taste, but just not what I would expect in a porter.

Objectively speaking: Another very well-brewed Butte Creek, but not quite striking a sensible chord.
I like: Pillowy soft malt texture. Pleasant coffee nose avoids beaniness, but reaches toward fudgey and borderline caramel notes. Enough roastiness to keep the sweet kiss at bay. Pleasant hop background brings no acidity into the game. Light-medium bodied and very, very easy to drink.
I dislike: Quickly departing head.

A little too carbonated. Black pour with a huge frothy head. The coffee aroma is very faint. Taste is dry and bland.

Picked up a single bottle at Pat-apostrophe-s Liquors in Porter, IN: This pours a clear reddish brown with a sort creamy tan head. It has a nose of lightly roasted malt, cocoa, and a nutty bitterness. The flavor is more chocolatey and also tastes of uncooked cookie dough. A bit thin, perhaps, but pretty decent.

Bottle. Strong malt flavors. A good hop finish. A bit thin on the palate.

[1650-20080902] 12floz bottle. Lightly smoked roasted malt aroma with light vanilla wood notes and some mocha. Clear, dark brown red body with a small medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Roasted wood malt flavour has some smokiness and mocha characteristics. Medium-full body. Bonus for being organic, but a good one at that.
(w/ jerc @ Hangar on the Wharf; Juneau, AK)
