Pine and citrus hoppiness. Spice and a touch of apple cider. Appearance: Deep amber in color and hazy. Off-white head was small and foamy with decent retention. Fair lacing. Flavor: Sweet caramel maltiness. Hop flavor was nice, but seemed a little light. The usual pine and citrus with hints of resin and grass. Bitterness was medium-high and lingered for a long time. Medium sweet finish with some bitterness carrying over. Palate: Medium-full bodied. Medium carbonation. Light alcohol warming all over mouth. Overall: Didn’t really care for this one. Too sweet and not enough hop flavor. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 27, 2007 Bomber. Pours crystalline copper with big beige head. The aroma is pine and a little citrus, brown sugar, some sticky fruit, some spice, and bread crust. The flavor is dry and piney, supported by a little bit of fruit-cocktail sweetness. There’s an interesting spiciness in the middle. Oranges and toast come out in the finish. Dry aftertaste. This is a pretty tasty IIPA. DrBayern (1137), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA

So, me & The Bride were sampling this and we quickly agreed that it was the best Butte Creek beer we’d ever had, so it’s got that goin’ for it. It is in fact, a pretty good double IPA. And it’s certified organic, so one can enjoy the beer, and revel in the sense of smug self satisfaction that you get, as well.
