Malty and syrupy sweet, different, unique and enjoyable. Minimal head with low carbonation, very thick mouth feel. First from Butte Creek, pleasantly surprised at uniqueness. Follow up...I had a hopped up and modified version of this beer at the brewery. It was literally soaked in hops prior to my tasting. Imagine adding hops resin or plant extract to an already hoppy double IPA. This could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on personal taste. I enjoy my hops but the hopped up version was a bit like sucking on a hops tea bag.

Bottle thanks to egadjiz for sharring this one. Pours a cloudy orange body with thin/tiny head. Aroma is of candy (carmel?). Slightly bitter taste of more candy, hops. Good mouthfeel. Had a sweet finish.

Thanks to egajdzis for popping this open... Appears an orange toned amber with a small white head that fades into a mild collar. Spotty lacing is left around the glass. Smell is of butter toffee, brown sugar, roasted nuts, and toasty caramelized grain. Taste is of the mentioned aromas highlighted by caramel, vanilla, toffee, biscuits, along with mild citrus backing up the sugary goodness. Mouthfeel is sweet, medium bodied, sugary, hitting on the front and the middle of the tongue with a slow, long lasting finish.

This amber ale poured with a modest off-white head that dissipated rather quickly. The initial taste is malty with bitterness quickly settling in, leaving a piney finish and a warm alcohol trail.

Poured a lightly hazy, amber color with a small, off white head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of pine, floral hops, sticky caramel malts, and some alcohol as well. Mouthfeel was thinner, and the hops were subdued. Maltier up front, with toffee, some caramel, tobacco, resin, citrus fruits, and also some alcohol in the finish.

Thanks to egajdzis for sharing. Pours a hazy orange amber with a smaller off white bubbly head. Aroma of caramel/toffee malts, followed by alcohol, piney and light citrus hops are hidden in there. There is this overwhelming aroma that I can’t pinpoint but just seems a little off to me. Some candy sweetness. Flavor has some up front bitterness, grapefruit and pine. Still a lots of malts. That "off" thing that I picked up in the aroma was still there just not as present.

Out of the fridge this pours a cloudy amber, but warms into clarity. Good head. The aroma is a dose of piney hops and big malt. The flavor is mostly malt, a bit of barelywine overworked yeast, hot hops and hot alcohol. Lacks the finesse of the best of the style.

Bottle from Ocean Wine and Spirits. Pours a murky butterscotch-like dark amber with a creamy off white head. Very aggressive aroma of grapefruity hops, with a backdrop of yeast and caramel malt. Mouthfeel is rich, like a barleywine. Flavor of thick caramel, bread, and yeast which are followed by a big and grassy hop bite of pine and citrus. Sweet and bitter finish, that is warming down the windpipe. Resiny bitterness lingers. This is pretty damn good, but dances close to barleywine territory.
