Hoppy aroma is of pine. I can actually smell the bitterness in this guy. Flavor is very rich, malty, pine, and grapefruit. Full bodied. Huge but smooth bitterness that lingers on and on. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 29, 2006 Hazy copper-orange. Nice body and texture. Bright flavors and aromas from start to finish. Malts were filled with caramel, sweet toast and a pinch of honey. Hops were complementing and balanced, with nice pine and perfume. Pretty good beer. Glouglouburp (2839), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 26, 2006 Updated: Sep 10, 2007Clear copper with a small off-white head. Very malty and very hoppy beer. Both the malt and hops have a rough dirty feel to them but not dirty in a bad way (it’s a Butte Creek, not a Butt Crack). Whiskey single-malt & wooden malts flavours along with orange, tree bark, thick caramel and leafy hops. Alcohol is very present. Overall in-your-face earthy caramel-alcohol. Simple, brutal but somewhat effective. bhensonb (4287), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 25, 2006 Marvelous citrus, pine, floral hop aroma with perhaps some malt. Perhaps not. Beautiful hazy apricot color, with a white head that immediately disipated to a few bubbles. Starts with malt sweetness, followed by hop, and then a Belgian candy effect - very reminiscent of a Belgian ale. Seems a bit thin, but the hops come through the finish and really balance the sweetness. Just fantastic. BeerandBlues2 (3216), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Oct 24, 2006 Pours amber with an off-white patchy and fizzy head, some spotty lacing. Aroma is sweet caramel and citrus, floral and pine hops and malt (cookie, meal), yeast (sweat) and a huge perfumey alcohol nose. Moderate to heavy bitter and acidic hops (floral, pine, citrus rind), caramel sweet malt and yeast flavor, alcohol is noticeable. Medium bodied and fizzy, dry palate. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Oct 22, 2006 Bomber. Beer is murky medium caramel colored without any head.

The aroma is malty with light notes of toasted grain, caramel; Hoppy with a light note of herb, moderate-to-heavy resin/pine; Yeasty with a trace of basement; Light miscellaneous green apple peel, moderate spiced pear.

The flavor is moderately-to-heavily bittersweet with a longish, warmish, moderately sweet, lightly bitter finish. Grippy. The body is medium-to-full, the texture is velvety and the carbonation is lively. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA

Earthy, grassy hops. Citrusy notes. Orange and grapefruit. Malty and hoppy sweet flavor. Herbal citrusy notes. Finish is bitter. Full bodied. Very complex. Very nice beer. Enjoyable. apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 21, 2006 Dark red/copper body, clear, and a nicely formed, lasting white head. Hoppy, yet sweet, honey-malted aroma. Grassy and very herbal. The flavor is also pleasantly herbal. It is filled with a complex blend of bitter and aromatic hops. The alcohol leaves a very nice warmning sensation, but it is not "hot". Nice.
