Aroma boasts a bold grapefruity hoppiness and sweet caramel malt underneath. Body starts with a sweet viscous caramel and toffee maltiness with nice bittering and citrusy flavor hoppy balance. A nice, fresh, and enjoyable double IPA. alafito (334), tijuana, Mexico
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 12, 2006 Very nice and hearty brew, with lots of malts and extra hops. Flavors were a tad too resiny and piney, little to no citrus or flowery scents. A bit harsh and dry with an afterburn in the throat. Long finish of pines and bitterness. hopscotch (5549), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 11, 2006 Draft... GABF ’06... Hazy golden ale with a small, tight, off-white head. Moderate pink grapefruit and heavy pine aroma. Flavor starts sweet, then good, salty bitterness kicks in. The sweetness remains, but the bitterness continues as well. Medium-bodied and creamy with modest carbonation. The lupulin acts like Novocain on the palate. Lengthy, tongue-numbing finish. asteele8 (270), Mukilteo, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 7, 2006 Bottle. Pours an orange-brown with a white head on top. Aroma is similiar to a barley wine aroma. Hops, pine, and citrus are the aromas of the beer with a malty undertone. Flavor is balanced between hops and malts. Not a real big overpowering taste from either of the two main ingredients. Tasting citrus and some grassy notes malts smoothing it out immediately. A decent beer, very enjoyable. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 3, 2006 The aroma has pine and citrus with caramel malt. The appearance is cloudy orange/tan with a small head. The flavor is sweet with lots of hops. The palate is pretty good for a Double IPA. Overall it’s good but not the best IPA. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 28, 2006 Quite good. An enjoyable sipping beer. Buttery malt aroma with some edgy hops. Good balance for the breed. Hoppy, but not overbrewed or overbitter. Warming, but not boozy. Moderately tart, some cocoa, caramel, chalk. Finishes out bitterly against the sides of the tongue, caramel sweet in the high palate, spicy on the lips, burps piney. doubleipa (224), Georgia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 26, 2006 Quarter inch, off-white head that almost vanished. Good lacing. Very strong pine resin aroma. I didn’t detect much in the way of citrus, but there was also a decent malt aroma. Not an overpowering DIPA like a Ruination, but still very good. I didn’t taste much alcohol, but could feel the warmth. This is very well balanced. My aopnion went up as I got near the end of the bottle. Initiall I thought I wouldn’t buy any more, but after I finished the 22 oz’er, I think I’ll get some more.
