Poured a dark brown with ruby edges. Thin head. Lightly malty aroma (bready and caramel - sweet too). Sweet malty flavor (a light graininess) with a little chocolate, vanilla, and nuttiness. Has a light hoppiness in the back end. Moderate mouthfeel and carbonation, but a little thin at the end.

Aug 12, 2008 Not sure how long this one was sitting on the shelf but it tasted like it has been for a while. Pours a dark mahogany colour with more of reddish tint near the top. Head is weak, tan coloured. Aroma is like old stale peanuts with a little bit of toffee. Taste was dirty, a little chewy in fact- again stale peanuts with a hint of toast.

Jun 2, 2008 Bottle from BevMo. Dark mahogany pour with very thin off white head and light lacing. Aroma has a bit of a chocolate essence to it with a bit of port wine scent as well. Has more of a Porter feel and taste to it and has a bit of that grittiness to it that I noted in their Organic Porter. Some nutty notes in the flavor round it out with some trailing hoppy bitterness. Mouth feel is a tad on the thin side. Overall, decent.

Nov 24, 2007 murky opaque brown with small brown head. caramel, grape aroma. smooth with low carbonation. flavor is mostly caramel and dark chocolate with notes of grape juice and nuts.

Nov 23, 2007 Mildly malt astringent nose with a bit of roasted iced tea. Some cocoa and nuts on the palate with a very mild bittering. Butnt caramel comes in at mid-palate. Dry and lingering finish.

Mar 4, 2007 Received as part of a Winter Brew package. A decent brew and a good winter brew. Strong aroma and taste are its key features, but I would probably not purchase this beer again.

Feb 6, 2007 From bottle. A frothy, large, long lasting white head with a lightly bitter flavor and lively carbonation. Very good but not great.
