Aroma is quite nutty and herbal. A bit of soft fruitiness as well. Citrusy hops and a bit of berryish fruitiness as well. Flavour is loaded with herbal hop. Lingering citrus and a bit of prickly alcohol. Soft lingering caramel. It’s okay, but a bit muddled. fredandboboflo (1417), East Setauket, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 30, 2008 Growler. Aroma of airy, very lightly toasted caramel malt with lots of floral hops and some citrus in there as well. Flavor the same, hop complexity even grows to include green leafiness and more tropical notes. Not a hop bomb, but a very nicely hopped beer. Very enjoyable. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 27, 2008 Growler. Pours a clear copper color with very little head. Aroma of bready malt and floral hops. Flavor of weak pale malts with a ton of bitter hops. A touch of tropical fruits/mango comes out at the end. A quality beer from an unsuspecting brewery!
I also had a sample of this straight from the tap at a tasting at Big Z Beverage and the hops were much more prominent. It was a real bitter hoppy bomb with only light hints of malt. In the growler, the hops have died down a little (even though the growler is only 1 day old) but actually I think I enjoy the beer better now.
