Commercial Description:
Buzzards Bay Brewing’s Alt is the South Coast’s take on a German classic. Brewed with copious amounts of German malts and hops, our Alt is a well-balanced copper hued old-world ale. Like all Alts, ours toes the line between two worlds. It’s brewed with an ale yeast, but it is treated like a lager. It is fermented and cellared at a colder temperature, for a longer time than most ales. The result is a clean, drinkable beer with a very light and warming estery aroma that accents the earthy Hallertau hops added late in the boil. We hope you enjoy our Alt as the weather turns colder. Cheers and prosit!

Yeasty aroma, sort of like bread with an amber color that gives a cream colored head. Pleasant taste, though hard for me to pin down. Light drinkable body that finishes cleanly with a slight hint of cherry.

Bottle from BOM club. Pours a copper- brown with a thin head that quickly dissipates. Subtle aroma of malt and some dark fruits. Flavor is mostly cherry and biscuit malt followed by the faint spice of hops. Quite crisp, light to medium bodied yet a bit creamy. Very drinkable and enjoyable overall. Smooth and well balanced. I wish this one wasn’t a limited release, go for it guys!

Poured from bottle into Summit Pint glass. Clear brownish-copper with very thin head. Aroma of cherry, plum, biscuit, citrus and spice. Smells good but definitely subdued. Just slightly sweet cherry and biscuit malts countered by a spicy noble hop bitterness. Relatively low carbonation for a German brew. Smooth and clean but a little watery. Finishes somewhat dry. Fairly mild and pleasing Altbier, although not as complex as some others.

Bottle thanks to cavie. Brown pour with a white head. Nose is butter, caramel and nuts. Decent on the palate with a flavor that reflects the nose quite well.

Bottled. amber transparent color with thin white head. Aroma is yeasty and bisquity with some spice. Flavor is malty dominant slightly sweet with some bitter hopped balance in the middle. Ends a little fruity. Palate is clean, lightly carbonated (needs more), and a lingering finish.

Beer of the month. Had a nice copper body with a white head that had some retention. Aroma had a nice malt note to it. Some sweet notes and some almost biscuity notes. Flavor was similar but did have a delicate hope bite at the end. A little thin on the palate, but carbonation was minimal. A nice session ale, but not out of this world.

Biscuity malt character. Somewhat chewy with some caramel notes. A little spice, fruit and nut. Wet leather flask character.
