Commercial Description:
The world’s foremost cranberry region is our very own South Coast. Thus, we had to brew this beer and indeed, we’ve been a little cran-crazy here at Buzzards Bay Brewing. We brewed a special batch of black lager and barrel aged it in a Cabernet Sauvignon soaked French oak barrel (from the Nevers region) for 12 months. During that time the lactic bacteria (already in the barrel) fermented the remaining sugar and created a deliciously dry and somewhat sour beer. We took some South Coast cranberries fresh from the bog, crushed them and added them to the brew. The cranberries added not only a delightful cranberry aroma and mouth-watering tartness, but also a wonderful red hue. Bottle conditioned, this is a very tasty, tart, South Coast rendition of the traditional lambic style. As this is a natural beverage - unfiltered, unfined and naturally carbonated, expect yeasty stuff as well as bits and pieces of real fruit to be floating around. Great for Thanksgiving! Yeah! Drink now or age for 1 to 5 years.

Bottle 75cl. @ Chriso’s pre GBBF Shindig ’09.
Clear dark brown color with a average to large, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, wood, barnyard, brett, cherry - cranberry. Aroma is more like a flemish sour IMO. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate acidic with a long duration, and a dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20090801]

Bottled. Deep amber colour, mediumsized beige head. Aroma is wood, some berries, semi-sour but also quite sweetish notes. Flavour is quite muvh the same, a rather wellbalanced fruit lambic.

A Mes rate: bottle at the ever brilliant Chris O’s Pre GBBF Extravaganza.
Thanks to Grant for giving me this one. Rich red chestnut colour with a good beige head. Excellent wood and brett. Very fruity. On the nose it’s very much Flemish sour with fruit. Rich yet surprisingly light at the same time. The cranberries are rather subdued but still really tasty. Superb sour lemony finish. Really clean. Excellent beer. Thanks again Grant for a rare treat.

Bottle at the legend of Chriso’s pre GBBF09 Tasting. Alround rating: Good solid lambic characteristics, good funk and correct yeastyness, only fault is there seems to be a bit too much bitterness off the tannins from the cranberry skins or wood.

(750ml bottle) Pours a amber-brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of tart cranberries, dry dustiness, acetic, and faint funky barrel. Flavor of acidic cranberry, earthiness, pepper, and some damp mustiness that in turn finishes dry.

Bottle… October ‘09 O-Town Throwdown!… Cloudy brown ale with a small, white head. The funky nose offers sharp cheese, cherries and leather. Medium-bodied, but thin and watery with expired carbonation. The flavor is mostly tart, but also generously bittered. Lengthy, lightly bitter, Novocain-like finish. Kudos to miketd for shipping this bottle to Florida for The Throwdown!
