crazyvin (1245), New York, USA Nov 6, 2009 From my beer of the month club. poured a dark brown, but not quite black hue with a bone color head. Aroma had a hint of smoke to it as well as some grainy malt notes. Flavor has a little on the corny side with some smokiness to it. Finish had some sweetness to it. FROTHINGSLOSH (1961), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 6, 2009 This one came in my beer club. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown with a small beige head. The aroma was tangy, bitter and toasty with a faint undertone of vanilla. The flavor was bitter, roasty, dry and gritty with a hint of malted milk. Rather one dimensional. Medium length finish, medium body. Ok. brentfeesh (1030), Gadsden, Alabama, USA Nov 6, 2009 A cool black and white label. Pours a thin looking walnut color with a wispy head. Very, very light roast in the nose and a bit of a metallic note. Unfortunately I found the flavor a bit dull and boring. Too much black pat for my taste. The flavor is just not …. Not what I had hoped for I guess. Too much black pat malt and dull other flavors. Just not doing it for me. Thin mouth feel, watery with a semi-dry finish. angrypirate06 (678), Texas, USA Nov 4, 2009 Bottle thanks to cavie. Pours a dark ruby color. Aroma is lightly smoked, with some caramel. Flavor is watery, some smoke. Watery mouthfeel. Cavie (1300), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Oct 31, 2009 Brownish red pour. Some smoke and roasted flavoring on the nose. Tastes thin and bitter. Not flavorful but sadly bittered. BMan1113VR (2752), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Oct 30, 2009 Bottle thanks to cavie. Pours with a brown body and a thin tan head. Aroma of husk, caramel and corn. Taste is roasted and slightly bitter. Very watery with medium carbonation. tmoreau (525), Lombard, Illinois, USA Oct 24, 2009 12 oz. shared bottle with a beer club member as one of his latest brews by mail. A rather thin pour with a black/brown hue and transparent enough to show some mahogany tones through the liquid. The head was off white, and quickly diminishing to bubbles, film and a small ring of foam. The aroma was subtle roast, coffee, and a hint of smoke. The flavor was again lightly roasted, somewhat light bodied, but with good carbonation and a moderately bitter finish Odyn (205), New York, USA Sep 23, 2009 Love the color, though I didn’t pick up much on the nose. Easy drinking taste that is light and a little creamy. Good finish with a subtle hint of currants.
