Commercial Description:
his beer’s looks are deceiving! It may look like a stout, but your first sip will tell you otherwise. Brewed in the tradition of a German Schwarzbier, our Black Lager may look dark, but it tastes clean, bright and smooth. And if you concentrate, you can taste the faint flavor of black currants in the finish, thanks to Brambling Cross hops. This beer has quickly become a staff favorite! Pours a nice deep dark woody brown- almsot black with some ruby highlights- nice foamy lasting beige head and awesome lace. Aroma is toasty malts, some light munichs, but a nice sharp chocolate with roast as well- crisp and clean with some spicy noble hop as well. Flavor is crisp clean-- some light cookie dough malts, toast, sharp dark chocolate, clean crisp bitterness- fresh. Nice Schwarz.

Enjoyable, smoky, bitter chocolate. Some berries in the finish. Great looking pour with a lasting light cocoa head. Easy on the mouth. Nice effort.

Bottle. Pours a very deep brown. Head was a light tan that fades down to a thin and almost disappears. Strong roasted malt aroma with light flora hops. Flavor had some vanilla and caramel and coffee to it with a good bit of Chocolate.

12 oz. bottle, bottled on date on the back label, sampled in a lager glass. A nice looking start, poured a dark chocolate black with a two finger high creamy pale tan head, good retention, fair amount of ringed laced sticking. Light aromas of smoked roasted malts at first then malty scents of chocolate and coffee arise. traces of caramel too. Faint earthy herbalness and dark fruitiness in the background. Creamy smooth moderate bodied feel, some slickness on the tongue, what one expects for the style. Really pleasant tasting, rich and mellow roasted malts, chocolate caramel and coffee with a dash of cream. The hops add a quite soft spiciness along with the advertised black currant fruitiness. Finishes darkly malt sweet and currant fruity. This is a good take on the traditional Schwarzbier, from the lagers I’ve tried from Buzzard Bay, all are above average and this is no exception.

bottle. Poured very deep brown with ruby highlights, with a moderate sized tan head that fades rapidly. Roasted malt aroma, with some cocoa and mild hops. Roasted, biscuity malt flavor, with some vanilla, cocoa, and faint hops. Thin body.

Pours a deep black colour with amber edges with a fairly solid tan head that thinly laces the glass. The aroma is of earthy roasted malts and nuts with some toffee in the background. Flavour is of black currants, coffee malt and dry, clean bitter hop finish. Very light and tingly mouthfeel.

This beer pours a dark black color hence the name black lager, with a mild head to it.also it leave some really nice laceing around the glass. It has an earthy aroma to it, very nutty and bland. The taste is very bitter and mildly hoppy. There is some nice roasted flavors with and very bitter flavor on the back of the palate.
