Commercial Description:
his beer’s looks are deceiving! It may look like a stout, but your first sip will tell you otherwise. Brewed in the tradition of a German Schwarzbier, our Black Lager may look dark, but it tastes clean, bright and smooth. And if you concentrate, you can taste the faint flavor of black currants in the finish, thanks to Brambling Cross hops. This beer has quickly become a staff favorite! Aroma - heavy malt, faint coffee, toffee; Appearance - very dark brown, almost opaque, thick head, good lacing; Taste - basic malt front, back has a bold hop bitterness, likewise in the finish; Palate - pretty crisp mouthfeel, nice body; Overall - flavorful for the style, a tad too bitter though, solid brew.

Bottle: Deep brown with a ruby hue and a creamy tan head. Some soft barley roast in the aroma- somewhat clean, but does have a bit of a "lagered fruity" note- touch of butter as well. Thin, fluffy light body. The roast is there and it’s dry, but it’s lacking in texture. Later on there’s some burnt husk and a peppery noble hop bitterness. A bit thin in texture- needs refining.
