| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Oct 8, 2004 Pretty average. Not sure where the "Copius amounts of English malt" came from, but they weren’t used correctly. Sort of a mish mash. Not very complex and weak in the hops area. Looks good though. Earlier Rating: 12/27/2002 Total Score: 3.2 My favorite of their beers. Good for an American bitter/pale ale. Better hops than malt (as expected). A chewy mouthfeel, has some character, and I would drink it again. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 27, 2004 Clear bronze color, with a brief/non-existent head. Aroma is soft and subtle, slightly fruity(raisins, dates, grapes, cherries), and spices. Has a cidery feel, actually. Tasty hop rush on the palate with full malty sweetness behind. Sweet, nutty, toffeeish flavors come in through the middle. It’s starting to taste more like an Irish red ale or even a Scotch, than a traditional English pale ale. Not as hoppy as I’d expect out of a pale ale, and far maltier. Even feels like a mild brown, at times, too. HighGravity (890), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Aug 14, 2004 Nacho cheese nose that fades to parmagian. The palate is malty, but dries out on the finish. Strange beer. dberger624 (1028), Phila, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 19, 2004 Neon orange ale with a small, fizzy, white head. The nose has lots of caramel in it... along with sweat, pear and red apple. Well-balanced and nicely bittered. Medium-bodied with a syrupy mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Lengthy, moderately bitter, then bone-dry finish. I was pleasantly surprised by this one. sfontain (506), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 17, 2004 This one is just weird. Pours a dark red-brown with a light, disappearing head. Aroma is caramel, apples, raisins, and some unknown funky sourness. I had some of this with in-the-shell peanuts and this stuff brought a burnt taste in the peanuts. Putting the peanuts away, though, we get a nice, mildly sharp sweetness followed by a monstrous, clean hop bite; I detect a slight hint of caramel, maybe some vanilla, and certainly a bit of earthiness. Slightly thicker than many other pale ales, but just not nice enough for a "4" for palate. Overall, this is pretty good on its own; I was surprised, and it’s fairely unique. My qualms are the strange aroma and that the hops are too bitter to drink with food, in my opinion. One of BB’s better beers, I think. BennyTicklez (621), USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 18, 2004 A decent pale ale. The best beer put out by Buzzards Bay in my opinion. Amber color, but still a little watery. I drink it when I can get it for free. DYCSoccer17 (2200), Davis, California, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Apr 8, 2004 Pours transparent copper with small white head that is quickly dissipating. Aroma is malty. Hints of spice and maybe some yeast. Finish is malty with some chocolate notes. Start is kind of carbonated. This guy is overmalted. Could use a bit more body too. I certainly wouldnt classify this as an ESB.
