At first only malt in the nose, like in a malt silo, grain, worts, but there are noble hops hiding. Some caramel & biscuit. And then the hops come out of the hiding, in the taste. No doubt, there's plenty of cookie malt present, but the hops exert domination in bitterness and hopflavour. Hoppiness even verges on the edge of adstringency. Well-bodied. Hopheads might be put off by the very malty nose - they would be very sorry if it led them to pass this beer. 't Is a very hoppy and pleasing beer - and a very hopped beer needs some good malt underbuild, IMO. MartinT (5068), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 24, 2004 Underlying cantaloups combined with the caramel create a quizzically interesting sweetness...Well-blended with citrusy and grassy hops, they form a nice balance which recall a flowery atmosphere...A good interpretation of a bitter, complex, fresh and very easy to drink... muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jan 21, 2004 12 oz bottle. Darkish amber, very clear, smallish head. Sweet caramel, piney hops, and some indefinable ague in the aroma. Not bad, but...weird. Sweetish, buttery flavor, solid if low hoppiness throughout, decent English maltiness, good body. Pleasantly surprised by this, I'd started to expect this brewery to be worthless. Not great, but certainly drinkable. Spiesy (2333), Global Citizen, Greater London, England
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jan 4, 2004 Bottled, Cherbourg, Massachusetts. Amber with a thick tan head. Straight beer this, no twists or nuances to enjoy. One dimensional. This beer clearly lacks the complexity to compete and satisfy. jazz88 (2238), San Francisco, California, USA

Misty basement aroma, and the hops fail to connect with the malts in the mix. Thanks to to my friend Sanjay for the bringing this back from Boston. Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA
