A good, malty beer, though it doesn't fit my expectations of a Pale Ale. Not hoppy enough to be considered an excellent Pale and a little to heavy.

Bottle. Pours orange amber colour, aroma is malty with a funky something or other to it. Little head. Flavour is an odd bitterness with a lot of astringency.

Ugh is all I have to say about this beer. Its aroma is vaguely sock-like, and it just goes downhill from there. Bitterness is high and widespread, and not a pleasant hoppiness, but an aspirin on the tongue bitterness. Metallic, harsh, and generally not good. I've had this in the bottle and from the tap(because I thought the bottle was skunked) and both were awful. The look was alright, but thats it.

GABF 2003 - The appearence is a nice pale amber, with a good large head, light yellow in coloration. There is a sweet hoppy smell that isnt very strong. A bitter hoppy flavor and sweet finish. There's nothing too special about it, save the fact that it doesnt suck.

Pours with a deep amber body topped by a thin white head with good lacing. Slightly sweet malty aroma wtih a slight lemony character. Slightly sweet and fruity malt flavor with a good hop balance and a slightly bitter hoppy finish. Light to medium bodied and smooth with a very slight touch of dryness.

Certainly more in the english pale ale style and not the APA style. Mellow hopping and rich malts make this a decent if not oustanding beer.

I got to try this brew a few years ago when they first opened the brewery near my hometown. I am not a Pale Ale lover. This beer ALWAYS seems to leave me with a nasty headache after only 1 or 2 however. Was it cleaning fluid? Hmmm.

Amber. Malty, slightly bready, smell. The taste is malty as well, with none of the citrusy hop bite I've come to expect from a pale ale. Overly thick palate and much too sweet for the style.
