Aroma is smoked malt, sweet bubblegum also. Flavor is the same, with some chocolate and floral hops. Naven (876), Poway, California, USA

Not really a fan of Rachbiers, but this was easy to drink. Kind of like porter with a touch of smoke. Pretty good. GeneralGao (3057), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 17, 2008 Bottle. Poured a clear light orange color with an off white head. The aroma was of leather shoe and a hint of campfire. Light to medium bodied with earthy leather and smoke of mild to moderate intensity. I liked the controlled use of the smoked malt as opposed to the unbridled forest fire volume of smoke in some of the Bamberg rauchbiers. Dickinsonbeer (3494), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA

Pours a real woody smokey colored copper with a thin soda-like head that dissipates. Aroma is nutty, fishy, light smoked salmon- toasted malts, and a bit of plastic. Flavor is on the weak side all around and a bit weak in the smoke department- I was hoping for a lot more, especially since they seem to do lagers pretty well here. Very papery, ligth caramel malts, waterd down flavor, some smoldering campfire- but light, not big enough to give it a smoked meaty character. Very light and easy to drink. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 13, 2007 Fresh growler. Pours mahogany with a white head. Smells of caramel, hints of smoke, roses. Tastes smoky with a nice peppery backbone. Lots of caramel and earthiness also present. Mouthfeel is tingly with an earthy bitter finish. A decent beer but I like my smoked beers more smoky than this. Bartzilla (443), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 31, 2008 Thanks Naven. A pretty drinkable Rauch, which isn’t one of my preferred styles. Not as heavy on the smoke as some that I’ve had and that was a bonus. Easily drinkable and would go well with a nice, juicy steak. Ughsmash (4050), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 20, 2008 Bottled. Poured clear deeper amber with lots of rising carbonation and a sticky, well-retained cap of beige head. The aroma picked up smoked ham hock and bacon upfront with a lovely dose of peat.. toasted caramel behind.. lacked the intensity of a Schlenkerla, but that wasn’t a problem here. The flavor had caramel maltage at the core with sour smoky peat and grassy bitterness surrounding.. a bit sharp and rough around the edges. Lighter-bodied with medium-plus carbonation on the palate.. creamy foray devolved to the rough back-end and final impression. Just OK. hopscotch (5507), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 23, 2008 Bottle... Clear, deep amber brew with a small, fizzy, off-white head. The nose is of smoky caramel and rubber. Medium-bodied with a milky mouthfeel and standard carbonation. Well-balanced; smoky sweet and medium bitter. Finishes smoky and bitter. Thanks go out to mgumby10!
