Commercial Description:
Pasteurised nitro-keg and nitro-can beer.
"A smooth, creamy ale." Introduced in 1994 as a 4.8% Irish Ale by Bass at Caffrey's Ulster brewery, and promoted strongly with an advertising campaign of "strong words softly spoken". Interbrew took over in 2000, soften the recipe and attempted to catch the lager market, using a new promotion of "a storm brewing". Coors acquired the brand in 2002. Initially contract brewed by Interbrew for Coors at Ulster, the brand eventually moved to Coor's Tower Brewery in Tadcaster.

A bit wishy washy in my opinion, looks fine but tasted mediocre, nothing to write home about, smells weak, tastes wrong

Can with a nitro ball. Creamy, mostly lasting fingerthick beige head. Clear light brown body. Vague aromas of caramel. Notes of dusty hops and metal. Taste is bland and watered. Some malt-sweetness only. Thin body. Nitro-creamy mouthfeel. Slight sour/bitter finish.

Foaming milky pour resolving into reddish amber. A trace of hops and lightly roasted malt in the nose. Ridiculously creamy, nitrogen-pumped body. Inoffensively watery flavour with a distant hint of toffeeish maltiness.

Good creamy beer, like both can and on tap, but obviously better on tap. Good taste to the beer.

Creamy tan head of one finger on a clear amber body. Very rich lacing on the pint glass. Aroma is weak yet inoffensive. Flavor is also weak with traces of malted barley and subdued hops. Mouthfeel is creamy at first and makes way for a moderately watery likeness near the end. I’d have to try this one again on tap.

I’ve had this beer in both can and draught. Draught is much MUCH better, the normally sweet aroma when pulled from the tap is replaced with a tinny smell when poured form a can. The flavor is a bit more full when you get it fresh off the tap aswell. I really like this beer, like many of the other nitro widget beers, I find its a real tasty beverage to just sit around with friends and relax. Nothing special about this one. But not to be ignored either.

Draught. Poured reddish brown with a thick creamy head. Sweet malted smells and tastes give way to a minimal bitter finish. Overall it doesn’t offend but it doesn’t stand out either.
