Commercial Description:
Pasteurised nitro-keg and nitro-can beer.
"A smooth, creamy ale." Introduced in 1994 as a 4.8% Irish Ale by Bass at Caffrey's Ulster brewery, and promoted strongly with an advertising campaign of "strong words softly spoken". Interbrew took over in 2000, soften the recipe and attempted to catch the lager market, using a new promotion of "a storm brewing". Coors acquired the brand in 2002. Initially contract brewed by Interbrew for Coors at Ulster, the brand eventually moved to Coor's Tower Brewery in Tadcaster.

It has a strong copper-like smell to it, which is sickly at first, but you do get used to it after a while. Creamy taste which also leaves a sickly feeling when finished, not great beer, but good.

Can: Deep clear red colour with a noce creamy head. Aroma of hay, gras, malt, and a week bitter nose. Flavor is almost the same, but it has a nice smouth/creamy mouth feeling. Thin body, medium bitter finish.

Draught at Shoeless Joes. This was the only beer on tap at this "fine" establishment that I could actually drink without cringing. Pours a dark copper with an average size lasting creamy off-white head -- the way it looks is the best part of this beer. Very mild, sweet aroma of malt and faint hops. Mild and watery malt flavour, a little fruity and a light bitter finish. Light bodied. Better then everything else this place had on tap but it’s still quite boring and it fails miserably as a British Bitter, I was only able to have one and then I just had water.

[044-20060911] Tap @ Owl&Firkin (Markham, ON). Light metallic, light alcohol, not much else. Dark orange body with a very long-lasting creamy off-white head. Very creamy, light fruity taste with a pleasing aftertaste. Medium-full body, nicely rounded. Enhanced with fries!

Dark bronze colour, a bit dirty. The aroma is very sweet. The taste is quite good, a bit watery unfortunately. Lovely toffee in the bitter but short finish.

Wretched stuff. Imagine leaking a little half and half into some pale lager. Incredibly weak comparing to the average British bitter.

Deep orange/red in colour, with a very thick head (looks very cream & thick). Very creamy mouthfeel with caramel and malt flavours. Would be better if the flavours were a bit stronger. Still not bad overall.
