Commercial Description:
Pasteurised nitro-keg and nitro-can beer.
"A smooth, creamy ale." Introduced in 1994 as a 4.8% Irish Ale by Bass at Caffrey's Ulster brewery, and promoted strongly with an advertising campaign of "strong words softly spoken". Interbrew took over in 2000, soften the recipe and attempted to catch the lager market, using a new promotion of "a storm brewing". Coors acquired the brand in 2002. Initially contract brewed by Interbrew for Coors at Ulster, the brand eventually moved to Coor's Tower Brewery in Tadcaster.

Pint on tap. I find Caffreys a lovely beer, its creamy and smooth. When you see it in the glass in front of you, the creamy head slowly settling you just want to get your hands on it. The first gulp is the best, and a big gulp it is to. Tastes as it looks. I cant stop thinking of cream.

Can. I liken this to a pale version of Guiness Stout. Creamy, with full head. Not fizzy and not flat, very soft and smooth on the tongue. Very pleasant slightly, ever so slightly, fruity taste with no unpleasant after-taste.

Can.
Golden color with a nice creamy white head. I really like the color of these sorts of beer when poured in a glass. Faint fruity scent and taste. Medium bitterenss and palate. Easy to drink, but still not easy to make. A well made beer well worth trying, which I have and will, several times.

Can. Copper color and a dense nitro head. Weak aroma with malt and hops. Smooth mouthfeel and a flavor reminiscent of the aroma. Some light citrus notes too. Weak fruity and hoppy finish. Smooth and quaffable. (060323)
