Commercial Description:
Pasteurised nitro-keg and nitro-can beer.
"A smooth, creamy ale." Introduced in 1994 as a 4.8% Irish Ale by Bass at Caffrey's Ulster brewery, and promoted strongly with an advertising campaign of "strong words softly spoken". Interbrew took over in 2000, soften the recipe and attempted to catch the lager market, using a new promotion of "a storm brewing". Coors acquired the brand in 2002. Initially contract brewed by Interbrew for Coors at Ulster, the brand eventually moved to Coor's Tower Brewery in Tadcaster.

Canned - 440ml. Amber/dark gold body topped with a dense white creamy head. Average malty aroma with light herbal hints. Fair hoppy and bitter taste with a long finish, which is characterized by a subtle smokey note. Average beer.

Farty nose is a quick turnoff. Pale amber color and creamy head (at least it looks good). Orangy malt with little taste. Low bitte. Weak and thin. A swilling beer, really.

Nitro can. A moderate ale, with no great depth, but easy drinking. Hint of roasted coffee. Very creamy.

On tap at bar in Gibraltar 2004: Dark orange color, with a small frothy head, sorft carbonation. Apple cider nose, but weak. Hoppy but also light taste, kind of creamy but all in all boring.

Nitro can. Pours with an amber body with a trademark creamy nitro head. Light nutty caramel aroma. Smooth body, buttery sort of malt flavour. Has hints of sweet caramel with a slight bitter touch. Pretty basic flavour, but very enjoyable. I must try this off tap.

Nitro can- Pours with a nirto cascade into a brown amber colour with a thin creamy head. Mild aromas of caramel and some hops. The flavour was the best thing about and it was only so so, malt, caramel, mild hoppiness and some sweetness. O.K. but less than good.

Aroma and appearance of this ale is fairly good, but the flavor is not that impressing. Palate is nice and smooth.

Interesting, and tasty. Had in a can from the local mart. The storm indeed... very thick head. A good tasty beer to go down with dinner. Satisfying and filling.
