Commercial Description:
Pasteurised nitro-keg and nitro-can beer.
"A smooth, creamy ale." Introduced in 1994 as a 4.8% Irish Ale by Bass at Caffrey's Ulster brewery, and promoted strongly with an advertising campaign of "strong words softly spoken". Interbrew took over in 2000, soften the recipe and attempted to catch the lager market, using a new promotion of "a storm brewing". Coors acquired the brand in 2002. Initially contract brewed by Interbrew for Coors at Ulster, the brand eventually moved to Coor's Tower Brewery in Tadcaster.

Interesting, and tasty. Had in a can from the local mart. The storm indeed... very thick head. A good tasty beer to go down with dinner. Satisfying and filling.

(Nitro-canned) Clear amber colored with a medium, silky and lacy, nitro head. Mild, pleasantly aromatic, both sweet and dry, wooden aroma. Sweetish, moderately malty flavor with low bitterness and some aromatic hops. Smooth and creamy, light to medium-bodied palate. Quite pleasant and smooth, but bland and not very interesting brew.

Golden amber, creamy off-white head. Nitro-aroma. Flavour is sweetish, very creamy and bland. Draught.

Bought the draft can...nitrogen in the delivey....poured a creamy amber with a big off white head.....virtually no aroma....taste is watery and non distinct with a quick finish where some hop bitters are slightly detectable.....a very weak ale with a nitrogen can gimmick.

Mmm...smoooth. Tastes like velvet going down. Very nice cascade, lovely amber colour, and the head lasted untill the bitter end. Nice easy drinking beer.

A little disappointing. Light coppercolour with an off white head that was medium sized. Aroma is slightly hoppy, but I was expecting more. Thin bodied and watery. I was expecting a lot more from this one. Especially because some of friends go nuts for this stuff.

(can) - Possibly my least favorite UK ale - not much aroma. Moderate hops bitterness but picks up a great deal of metallic flavor. Might be better in bottle or tap - unpleasant from a can.
