Commercial Description:
Pasteurised nitro-keg and nitro-can beer.
"A smooth, creamy ale." Introduced in 1994 as a 4.8% Irish Ale by Bass at Caffrey's Ulster brewery, and promoted strongly with an advertising campaign of "strong words softly spoken". Interbrew took over in 2000, soften the recipe and attempted to catch the lager market, using a new promotion of "a storm brewing". Coors acquired the brand in 2002. Initially contract brewed by Interbrew for Coors at Ulster, the brand eventually moved to Coor's Tower Brewery in Tadcaster.

An orange beer. A little watery. Tastes fruity and alittle metallic. Not much of a body, and not a beer i will remember for very long.

On tap at Weaver's Arms in Waterloo. Beautiful cascade, creamy body and mouthfeel. A bit of a fruity note. Vastly prefer it to Kilkenny.

From the taps of Angel and Crown in Covent Garden, London. Very reminicent of Guinness. I would call it a white chocolate version of Guinness. Thick, everlasting head. Very creamy. A tad fruity? Enjoyable to be sure.

Bland! Far too easy to knock back, nothing to make you remember a pint of Caffrey's. Basically, as easy as drinking milk, nothing at all to make it memorable, and on that note I rate it 5/20.

A beautiful pour from a nitro-keg. It takes forever to separate. When it does, it is a clear red-golden with a creamy nitro-infused head. The aroma is very mild but what you can smell could be politely described as not smelling exactly like vomit. Much better in terms of flavor. While still a bit mild for my tastes, it has a definite apricot note that I rather enjoy. As would be expected given the means of dispensation, it is very clean and smooth on the palate. It lacks a certain richness but it's not bad overall.

A very drinkable beer, plain however. A nice appearence when settling, due to the nitrogen. A bland beer, try something else.

Copper color. Head smooth like a dancefloor. Fruity flavor, banana(?) influences. Soft palate-feel.

Draught. After it settles it’s a light golden colour. Sweet smelling. Bitter sweet taste and so smooth it encourages you to drink it down in larger then normal gulps. Flavours a little to close to water. Therefore not for me but have had it on occasion when there’s no ale on.
