Commercial Description:
Pasteurised nitro-keg and nitro-can beer.
"A smooth, creamy ale." Introduced in 1994 as a 4.8% Irish Ale by Bass at Caffrey's Ulster brewery, and promoted strongly with an advertising campaign of "strong words softly spoken". Interbrew took over in 2000, soften the recipe and attempted to catch the lager market, using a new promotion of "a storm brewing". Coors acquired the brand in 2002. Initially contract brewed by Interbrew for Coors at Ulster, the brand eventually moved to Coor's Tower Brewery in Tadcaster.

Honey, seltzer water, a dash of cream, a little beer breath. Pretty and fluffy. Good thing I like honey.

I like the Guinness-like settling appearance of this beer. Far better than the Kilkenny in flavour and colour. Very enjoyable!

Possibly one of my favorite beers...it’s great all around, I can’t figure out anything wrong with it. I find it to be a mix between guiness draught and newcastle.

Can. Amber color with a white nitro fueled creamy head. A caramel and malty nose. Obviously smooth but lacks flavor and complexity. Instead it relies on some nitro trained smooth malts to carry the day.

Dark golden color, big nitro head. Body is disgustingly sweet, notes of caramel and piney hops. Smacks of macro and the nitrogen doesn’t do it any favors.

Didn’t care for this too much. Trying to add the creaminess and ’settling’ of Guinness to a less than mediocre pale beer just doesn’t work.
