Commercial Description:
Pasteurised nitro-keg and nitro-can beer.
"A smooth, creamy ale." Introduced in 1994 as a 4.8% Irish Ale by Bass at Caffrey's Ulster brewery, and promoted strongly with an advertising campaign of "strong words softly spoken". Interbrew took over in 2000, soften the recipe and attempted to catch the lager market, using a new promotion of "a storm brewing". Coors acquired the brand in 2002. Initially contract brewed by Interbrew for Coors at Ulster, the brand eventually moved to Coor's Tower Brewery in Tadcaster.

It’s nitro-ed so who knows what it is really like. Fairly ordinary, colour is the same as Kilkenny

Creamy texture with a fluffy nitrogen-induced head. The flavor and feel in mouth degraded during my drinking, ultimately becoming unpleasantly flat. Weak aroma and flavor--like other cream beers and nitro-boosted beers, this is all about appearance and texture.

Wow. Those nitrogen capsules sure do create one awesome head. Remind me again why we’re supposed to hate those things so much??? Anyway, the beer is just average. A bit bitter and maybe not so creamy once the head settles down.

Kind of flat once it got out of the can, but still a very good beer. A little watery with a light cream flavor, but not nearly as strong in that department as Wexford’s. A good beer that I’m always happy to watch after pooring, and just as happy to drink.

Not nearly as good in a can, even a draught can, than it is right out of the tap. I may of gotten a bad batch, but my draught can seemed oftly watered down. It seems to have lost a lot of the flavor that I remember the Caffrey’s on tap having. It seems to have lost a lot of creamyness in a can. Still one of the best heads I have ever seen on a beer though.

pretty much your typical nitro can - as always, a very thin palate to my tastes. very light bitterness. the one thing that is different is a very hidden sweetness that appears midway thru.
