DruncanVeasey (1612), Burbage, Leicestershire, England Jul 6, 2008 Bronze with white halo. Needs some agitation to be roused into any kind of head, and it dies fairly instantly. Smells promising (once it’s de-chilled), with brazen caramel, vanilla pod, creaky tun, chewy raisin, very subtle Goldings-like mustiness creeping up in the background. Flavours of rum-sodden barrel, gnawed pencil, candle wax, caramel, walnut, stale paperiness, butter cookie. What happened to the raisins?
tarjei (1131), Bryne, Norway Jul 20, 2008 50 cl bottle at Dispensary pub, Liverpool. Amber color, big fuzzy head. Aroma is dark fruit and hops. Flavor is fruity, most of all raisin, nice sweetness and hops, but a bit watery. Very drinkable. Gary__ (72), London, Greater London, England Jul 19, 2008 Should this not be listed as ’fruit beer’?.A novelty beer .I expected a dark beer with lots of body. This raisin beer is just a pale ale with a cool concept-but lacking excecution. Ethereal (869), London, Greater London, England Jun 27, 2008 Bottle from Nelson Wines. Lively, clear amber with a line of head. The aroma and flavour are a mix of toffee, burnt sugar, malt and raisin, but the raisin is thankfully not over strong. Quite honeyed too. Smooth palate. Nice stuff. Beth101 (100), West Yorkshire, England Jun 15, 2008 dark caramel colour with a nice white head. Fruity smell with a hint of plum. Smooth. tasted like plum wine.
