Small creamy offwhite head. Deep brown body. Roasty strawy aroma with caramelly notes. Dry-sweetish roasty dusty caramelly taste with wooden strawy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, smooth mouthfeel. Clean palate Dry (and faintly acidic) roasty dusty wooden aftertaste with grainy notes. Quite nice. (0.25l cask, The Advocate, Edinburgh.)

From cask in Edinburgh. Amber colored, brief yellowish head. Caramelly malts and faint fruits on the nose. Taste is mild malty, medium sweet, whit restrained fruit tones, and a modest amount of bittering hops. Mellow in the mouth, a bit diluted. Dries up on the finish. Ok beer, a bit boring though.

Cask - Thomas Ingoldsby (JDW), Canterbury. A medium russet colour with a small off-white head. Slight hints of sulphur on the nose, with caramel, toasted malts and nuts. Slightly acidic flavour with some caramel sweetness and a light hop profile to balance. Relatively short finish, light to medium body and low carbonation.

The Turk’s Head, Tynemouth. Deep cream collar on clear chestnut. Butter biscuit, cask wood, milkly hazelnut and chocolate aroma. Soft, still and silky with biscuit, faint toffee and hazelnut. Some very subtle sultana fruitiness. Delicate smoke and chocolate afters. Mild-like, slight and pleasant.
