One of my favourite Scottish beers! First had this one at the Pour House in T.O., and enjoyed in many times since. On tap pours with a thick beige head (nitro dispersed). Has a great heavily malted taste with subtle hops and creamy body.

500ml bottle at Blå Rock Cafe. Deep dark brown body under a persistent white head. Sweet malty aroma with roasted notes. Toffee flavour supported by dark malty hints and a smoky touch. Well balanced. A bit watered finish (30.03.2007).

Bottle. Clear amber colour with mostly diminishing white head. Malt, nuts and some dried fruits in the aroma. Heavy malt, some hops and a light alcoholic note in the flavor. Rather short finish.

On bottle 0,5l. Dark golden coloured. A faintly tanned head. Hoppy aroma with hints of apricot. A bit thin in flavor, but nutty hints. A lasting aftertaste resulting in a pleasant dry finish without much bitterness. Well balanced. A decent beer for celebrating my rating no. 600 - but I remember the cask version as more rich in flavour.

Massive tan head on clear dark amber body. Floral hops (maybe fuggles or noble) to the nose. Strong malted barley flavor meets hops, hint of black pepper and a smidge soapy. It has a coppery aftertaste. On the whole this is a very good beer. Among its best characteristics: Refreshing, simple, clean and inviting.
