The "Champion Beer of Scotland" arrives in Ontario and I feel compelled to sample it. Never mind that I recalled not particularly liking this beer during my time in Scotland.
Caramel coloured with tiny bubbles and a medium density head. A faint malty aroma and a mild malty taste. Unspectacular but inoofensive. The lingering impression however is one of sweetness (that stops just short of being TOO sweet) and a metallic tang.

Gentle malt in the nose, some toffee and a hint of toast. Spicy maltiness in the mouth with low roast barley and toffee notes and a hint of smokiness. Quite hop bitter in the finish but with lingering sweet toffee and caramel.

Sweet to the nose with scents of ripe fruit and a light, faint smoke. First sip was more smokey with lightly roasted flavours of malt. Slightly sweet at first and the finish is slightly bitter. l hoppy flavour to the palate. Very good. caledonian (367), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Aroma and flavor have something that makes me think of wet wood and ashes. Either that or licking the bar in an old cigarette-smoke-permeated pub (not that I’ve ever done this). After mulling it over, it could also be the influence of the aluminum can if it’s not coated well. I expect it would be better on tap. Overall, still quite drinkable. dreamboat (186), Brisbane, Australia

Peat, slightly smoked malt aroma. Dry, somewhat fruity flavour with just a hint of bitterness. Light, easy drinking body. radiomgb (2070), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
