I like the malty goodness that is Caledonian 80/- It is a little lighter and fizzier in the mouth than I expected and it does not quite work. The bitterness is more subdued than I care for but it is fairly well balanced and rather enjoyable.

Amber colour, white head. Nose of caramel malts. Flavour is caramel malty as well, with some hops. Slightly bitter finish.

Bottle from a London Oddbins. Sweet, malty, not very impressive, an old fashioned beer. Not enough bitterness, though there are some hoppy flowers in the finish.

Bottle. A light malty smell of fresh bread. A medium sized white creamy-frothy head which is normal long lasting. The body is dark red-orange, quite sparkling. The taste is light bitter and very dry in the mouth, the duration is medium. The body is also medium with a dry texture and a rather lively carbonation.

Draught, December 2007. An amber pour. I smell caramel, grass and plum perhaps. The flavour is full caramel malt, sweet with a slight bitter finish.
