Jan 29, 2006 Updated: Jan 25, 2009Cask handpull at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Had this on Burn’s Night along with haggis, tatties and neaps along with a double Glenmorangie. Deep chestnut with creamy head. Yeasty nose, some nice dark malts in mouth. Finish is quite soft with some tingly hops. Needs more body and backbone but drinkable enough. Re-rate at the same pub a year lager. Just too mcuh diacetyl on this, butter and caramel on aroma, drinkable enough in the middle, some hop and matl on finish. 2.6/5

Jan 28, 2006 Pint pulled at The Railway in Putney (London), taking a while to settle to a clear brown with a good sized head. A bitter malt aroma with some stewed fruit undertones. A tartish flabour with hints of dried apricots and a long lingering finish.

Jan 28, 2006 Cask conditioned from a Wetherspoons. Dark reddish beer with little head. Cold and dull is the overall impression. The JDW serve destroyed any lingering flavour leaving a mish mash of a cerealy, vaguely hoppy bitter.

Jan 24, 2006 Not quite the haggis bash bitter from previous years. However theres some cali hops playing with the spice from the haggis (as it must be drunk with haggis).

Jan 23, 2006 Cask conditioned @ Giddy Bridge (JDW), Soton. Richly coloured best bitter. Lots of malty toffee banana aromas. Sweet but quite thin. As it warmed from Wetherspoon temps the sweetness was more balanced but marred by the poor metallic finish.

Jan 22, 2006 IT said clearily Caledonian. IT was a little flavorless and heavy aftertatse, a little creamy and blond.
