Milky choccy coffee flavour. Some dark cherry/plum fruit too. Bit grainy in the mouth. Pretty decent balance, touch of hop sting on finish. Choccy aroma. Fine. I always find myself sat outside the ladies loo in this pub and I have no idea why. MesandSim (5943), London, Greater London, England

Big chocolate malt with some slight hoppage and tobacco. Chocolate is almost mocha and actually very pleasant. Dry chocolate finish. Not too bad but not something I could drink more than a pint of. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 7, 2008 Cask in Counting house. Aroma is chocolate and roasty malts, quite a bit of typically caledonian grassy hop. Taste is similar, nicely malty and a decent effort from caledonian, but perhaps stay off the grassy hop. imdownthepub (5177), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 29, 2008 Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Dark brown with slight head. Dark roasted malts, quite mild in character, with a dose of caramel, toffee and really quite sweetish. Smooth with hints of hops. It’s ok but not something I could go back to. chriso (4851), London, Greater London, England
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 2, 2008 Chestnut colour with a thin white head. But - oh oh - there a shedload of diacetyl in the aroma. I can pick it up before I get the glass anywhere near my nose. That pretty much drowned out anything else in the aroma. The buttery impression persisted in to the flavour but there was enough chewy malt and chocolate to provide some relief. Actually quite tasty, although I can’t say I noticed the influence of the Willamette hops. . Slightly ashy mouthfeel. Actually quite decent, apart from the diacetyl, which rather spoiled it for me. Must have been something to do with the barrel or the conditioning as nobody else seems to have noted the diacetyl.

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 4, 2008 Cask conditioned - handpump - Last Plantaganet, Leicester. A dark brown/ruby coloured beer with an off-white head. The aroma has caramel and bitter chocolate. The taste has a slosh of chocolate and a fair smidgeon of sweetness. Then there are some overtly bitter flavours. It’s an interesting beer and an interesting concept but I’m not sure the Willamettes actually work. leaparsons (4750), Leicester, Leicestershire, England
